What’s This About, Anyways?

Hundreds of communities around the world are taking steps to make their vision of an abundant, sustainable future a reality. They call themselves Transition Towns. Now we’re one too!

Fossil Fuels, Climate Change, and Rising Food Prices (Oh, My!)

Ok, let’s just take a minute and address the elephant in the room, shall we? Our human civilization is now subject to two interconnected threats that outweigh all other issues in significance and consequence:

1. We are facing an impending scarcity of fossils fuels (our primary energy source); and

2. Using those fossil fuels has pumped so much carbon into the atmosphere that our climate is changing, with very negative results.

Yikes! What Do We Do About It?

The purpose of a Transition Initiative is to prepare communities for the coming shocks associated with climate change and diminished resources. Since many towns have already begun their Transition, we get to learn from their successes. There’s plenty of support!

Great Opportunity for Change

Here’s some bad news that’s also good news: The average North American leaves an ecological footprint roughly three times what the earth can sustain.

This means we can really make a difference! Furthermore, by working together we can craft a more equitable way forward, rebuilding sustainability and resilience in our community. And have a good time while we’re doing it!
